Rising Stars: Meet Katie Dobies
Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie Dobies.
Hi Katie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
There is a saying that the eyes are the windows to the soul. Well, windows work both ways. Photography is a medium that captures how our soul sees the world. Since childhood, I’ve had a camera in hand documenting the beauty of the world as I see it. My professionally photography journey began over a decade ago by creating stock photos for Istock.com. That led to event and portrait photography, a photographer gig at Saratoga Living Magazine, and fine art photography (for sale on Fine Art America). In 2021 I created and launched my own website with 5000 of my favorite photos in one place called stockphotoqueen.com!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Something I struggle with is knowing how to choose the words to talk about my work. Images take me beyond words. Each photo has a spirit of its own and is the unique way I see the world through the lens. I invite the viewer to simply spend time with my art and let the colors, patterns, lines and natural subjects speak to them.

Within each image, I aim to capture the essence of the subject, its ‘light from within’.
What does success mean to you?
Success is when you are living your life authentically.
